Verbatim 95101 4.7 GB up to 16x Branded Recordable Disc DVD-R (50-Disc Spindle)

Product Description

From the Manufacturer
The Verbatim AZO recording layer gives our DVD media the competitive advantage-the patented coating delivers protection that lasts generations and provides ultimate resistance to UV light damage. That's why Verbatim's been recognized as the No. 1 Optical Brand in the World--we consistently provide optical media of the highest quality and compatibility. When drive manufacturers test their products for maximum performance, they use Verbatim--so why wouldn't you?

Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM), Verbatim's parent company in Japan, brings extensive technological research and development to the table. Core technologies, like the AZO recording layer give Verbatim an offering like no other optical manufacturer. This unique and ultra-stable layer strongly resists UV light, withstands high laser and rotation speeds on newer drives and ensures compatibility with current DVD standards.
Verbatim's AZO recording layer not only withstands the extremely high laser and rotation speeds of newer drives, it also maximizes their performance. Verbatim paid particular attention to the durability and light fastness of AZO; tests show that it is more stable than most recording dyes and the least affected by ultraviolet light.
AZO also offers high sensitivity for reliable high-speed recording and high reflectivity to eliminate read errors. The thinness of the recording layer is also critical. The thinner the layer, the higher the sensitivity and power margin; therefore, the better the DVD works for high-speed recording.
What does all this mean for you? Verbatim AZO technology translates into optical products that cost just a little more but are worth the slight difference. They are products you want-offering reliability, high read and write performance, high-quality photos and sound and superior archival protection that lasts.
FeaturesWarranty - Verbatim manufactures our DVDs to meet our strict quality standards. We stand behind the quality of our products-and our Limited Lifetime Warranty proves it!Compatibility - our online reviews say it for us; we make DVDs that work--no coasters! Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM), our parent company, has long-standing relationships with drive manufacturers who use our products to test their performance, making Verbatim DVDs the most compatible in the industry.

Customer Reviews

I've used Verbatim disks a lot over the years and overall they have performed very well. In fact, just recently I tested some DVDs that I burned 3-5 years ago that had some family photos and videos on it, and many of the Memorex and Ritek DVDs were unreadable, but the copies on Verbatims were fine. So I have no personal problem with the Verbatims. Fortunately I had a second backup copy of this material on other media that was still good.
One advantage to Verbatim DVDs is that they pioneered a more stable metal-stabilized azo dye that is said to be even better than Taiyo-Yuden's super-cyanine dye.
However, in doing a lot of online research recently reading various discussions and blogs about what is the best media for long-term storage, there was general agreement from many of the participants in these discussions that Verbatim's once great quality had slipped in recent years. People were saying that Verbatim had licensed its technology to various offshore manufacturers who were producing the disks under their label and those disks were showing high failure rates. If you can find the ones that really are made in Japan, though, it was said those are probably still good.
In fact, I am about to purchase some Verbatim DVD+RW disks to make another copy of my personal files onto these RW type disks. That's because RW's don't use optical dyes, which can age and degrade over time; instead the data is stored by an exotic alloy--often GeSbTe (germanium-antimony-tellurium), but I have also seen InSbTe (indium-antimony-tellurium) mentioned-- which should be more stable. This is possible because the alloy has different reflectance in the crystalline vs. the amorphous, non-crystalline state. The problem is that since these are rewritable disks there is the danger that you could accidently overwrite them, which is why many people prefer the optical dye media which are write-once. For me I don't think that is a problem so I'm willing to try some of these and just see how well they do over the long term. I'll check them again in 5 and 10 years (assuming I live that long :-)) and see how they do compred to the optical media.
But after extensive research on the best optical media I settled on Taiyo Yuden. Their name came up again and again in the forums, and no one complained of any serious problems. Their reliability and consistency was especially held in high regard. Since I went to so much trouble researching this issue, I thought I would report on what I found here.
Be sure that you have real Taiyo Yuden though, as they are often faked. True T-Y media has a noticeable little ring in the dye area near the hub, which stands out and is easily seen. It's said this is more expensive to do and is harder to fake. Also make sure that on the package it really does say made in Japan. T-Y is only made in Japan. They have not diluted their quality by outsourcing to anyone else as has been said in the case of Verbatim. Also, avoid any disks from China and United Arab Emirates. Those consistently came up in the forums as among the worst. Those from India could sometimes be good and Taiwan was usually okay.
Verbatim does have a point in their favor, though, in that their dye technology can be shown to be more resistant to ultraviolet light damage. However, unless you're in the habit of leaving your DVDs on the dashboard of your car or something this isn't as big a deal as has been claimed. And since many people bought the Verbatims in the past for archival purposes they're going to be stored in a dark place anyway so it's not really a factor for most people.
The same thing goes for the previously very well thought of gold/silver (actually aluminum) DVD-R disks from Mitsui. These disks are expensive (over $2 per disk) compared to Taiyo Yuden's which you can get for about 36 cents apiece if you buy a hundred pack. The problem is that Mitsui has since broken up into two subdivisions, Mitsui Advanced Media of America and of Europe, and people were saying the quality just wasn't as good as in the old days.
Also, people were pointing out that the necessity for gold has been over-hyped in recent years. That's because it just isn't necessary to pay the extra cost anymore. Gold was preferred some years back because it doesn't oxidize if there is a defect in the polycarbonate plastic layer covering the thin metal layer, and was thought to be superior because of that. However, it turns out that had more to do with defects back then in the manufacturing process of applying the plastic layer evenly to the disks. That problem was solved years ago and now there's no real reason to go to the extra expense of the gold, although many people still think it's the best archival grade media. There's no doubt it's a good media, the problem is that they can't prove that it's worth spending 6 or 7 times as much for a disk that doesn't last any longer according to these accelerated aging tests that have been done. Nevertheless, you will often find websites advertising the gold types as the only true archival quality grade media.
I did come up with one very interesting find on a gold/silver disk that might be worth it for very critical information. Mitsubishi-Kagaku recently teamed up and have produced a dual layer gold/silver disk similar the earlier Mitsui disks. They're also over $2 per disk but there's a very interesting difference. It turns out that DVDs are typically stamped from a glass master with runs of usually around 500,000 before they replace the master. After the fist couple of hundred thousand, the master isn't that accurate anymore and that can cause problems. Manufacturers typically mix disks from different parts of the runs together when you buy them. It's thought that this is why you can buy a cake box of 50 or 100 disks, have no problems and then run into several failed burns with apparently no reason. Very likely those disks were from the last 100,000 or 200,000 of the run.
However, these Mitsubishi-Kagaku disks are guaranteed to be from runs of less than 25,000 disks, which should be well within the tolerances of the glass master. You pay for it though, and a cake box of 25 disks is around $65. You can find them on the web by looking up "Century disk." The dye is a metal stabilized azo dye which is said to be possibly the best dye, too. I bought a small number of these disks for some very critical data as well as the Taiyo-Yuden and have been very happy with the results. No "coasters" at all.
By the way, there are several reasons to prefer the DVD+R media to the -R. Unfortunately, although Taiyo Yuden makes +R's, Century disks only come in -R format. There are several reasons for this superiority. One is that +R's have better bit error checking and correction algorithms than -R's, which could prevent lost data. The second is better wobble detection (all disks have this and it has to be corrected for during recording and playback). The third is that +R's have more than one burn profile for the laser power, whereas -Rs only have one. This makes it more likely to get a better burn since the dye is sensitive to the laser power.
Whichever way you decide to go, good luck with your archiving and optical storage!

Still the best discs you can buy in a retail store. The only discs that are marginally better than Verbatim are Taiyo Yudens that are more expensive and only available online. As far as quality per dollar spent Verbatim is 1. Verbatims are made by Mitsubishi thats why the quality is so high. These discs go on sale at Best Buy every month for only $12.99. Verbatim is so confident in their discs they give you a lifetime warranty

Customer Reviews

I purchased this TV stand for a space that is basically divided in half. When I received the stand, I was able to put it together with the included allen wrench in about 15 minutes. There aren't a lot of parts to attach so it feels heavy and well-built. It swivels perfectly -- it rotates easily but feels solid when it moves. This allows us to swivel the television in both directions with minimal effort.
I was excited about getting this unit because the specifications stated that it fits "up to a 50 inch TV". I have a new 46" LCD TV that BARELY clears the attached shelf. When I say barely, I mean by less than a quarter of an inch. I can confidently say that there is no way this stand would accommodate my slightly older 50" plasma TV.
I gave this item 3 stars because it works, but just barely. If you have a 46" or smaller TV that you need to swivel this unit should work great. If your TV is any larger, I would hesitate to purchase it because it may not fit.

I enjoy having a large great room that serves as both my living room and office. This stand's 360-degree rotation lets me easily turn it to face my desk or my couch, as the situation requires. It is well-constructed, easy to assemble, and a unique visual statement. There isn't much space for games and controllers, but those are easily handled with an end table.

Customer Reviews

I have a Verizon iPhone 4 and ordered this from OtterBox before they were out at other retail stores. Fits great with no wiggle room inside. Great feeling case, doesn't feel like it's a fish and wants to jump right out of your hand. Easy access to all ports. The front pieces that protects the screen DOES NOT hinder any finger gestures what-so-ever. My OtterBox has paid for itself already when I had my hands full as I was getting out of the car and simply I forgot it was in my lap... after the solid hit to the cement and heart started beating again, I brought myself to assess the damage. There was NONE! Still works like a charm like it did right out of the box. No cracked screen/glass. The OtterBox is without a mark as well. OtterBox saved the day. I researched my purchase first and was sold when it protected an iPhone from a 23 store drop into concret. (Search YouTube). It's better t protect your investment now or pay more later if it's damaged.
EDIT: This OtterBox Defender still works like a Champ! I did want to update that it works for the Verizon iPhone 4.... NOT the new iPhone 4S. While the iPhone 4S fits in the case, Apple has moved the sensor and the phone will have screen brightness issues. For the iPhone 4S the OtterBox company has released a new Defender series that has a larger opening for the front and rear sensor/camera. It's universal and will work with BOTH iPhone 4 ; iPhone 4S on ALL CARRIERS.

Updated 11/19/11
First and foremost, if it's solid protection you're after (and if you're prone to dropping your phone) you need a hard case for the iPhone because it's made of glass. It's a great phone functionally, but if you drop it as is, you're done. Many have those slim, trendy skin cases but they will not protect the phone against a drop even if they look cool. Apple and Verizon don't seem to be up front about how delicate the phone is.
I researched cases quite a bit and this one kept coming up. Highly protective, and it fits my Verizon phone perfectly. Make sure you get the UNIVERSAL case for Verizon so it fits. The built in screen protector is crystal clear and DOES NOT LEAVE watermarks or streaks like other cases with a built in screen do.
Now, some caveats: First, it's a little tricky to put the case on if you attempt it without directions. It's a plastic shell that snaps on and then the hard rubber gets wrapped around it. I strongly suggest you use the web video link that is printed on the inside of the box. Second, the flap on the bottom for the power jack was a little annoying at first. It took me a while to figure out how to seal it correctly. Lastly, this case WILL turn your phone into a brick. If you want something very slim that will maintain the aesthetics of the phone, this isn't for you, but that's a trade off you have to accept to have hardcore protection. I can fit it in my pocket, but it's a project getting it in and out, and it's a big lint collector. I'm thinking of trying a slimmer case and risking some protection because the bulk is getting to me. In summary, a great case for solid protection if you're willing to sacrifice sleekness and aesthetics.

    Customer Reviews

I was very resistant to buy this mouse because I have only bought Bluetooth mice since 2002. But mouse manufacturers are clueless to our needs and so I was forced to switch.
And man am I glad I did.
This mouse is worth it to overlook the ultra-tiny receiver. It is oh so smooth and uncommonly comfortable. I bought the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 about three weeks ago and my forearm and hand have been aching ever since. It was the first non-ergonomic mouse, designed to be symmetrical for both right and left handed users, that I have used in many years and using it was downright painful. I also have the inappropriately named Apple Mighty Mouse which suffers from the same design flaw. The Performance MX, by comparison, puts very little strain on my hand and arm, and the groove where my thumb sits not only feels terrific, it also provides greater control. I will never buy a symmetrical mouse again.
The kit that comes with it is smart and useful. The recharging cable is Micro-USB so when the mouse battery dies, you just plug one end into your mouse and the other into your computer, and use it like a corded mouse while it charges. Also, it comes with a Wall-to-USB adapter so you can charge the mouse in the wall if you don't have an extra USB slot available. This means I can still use the mouse while it is charging from the computer or the wall. Very handy! My previous mice had charging stands and if the battery died, I couldn't use them again until they charged. Logitech also included a USB extension cable to help desktop users reposition the USB receiver and a handy little bag to hold the power plug and cords for us notebook users. All in all, a very thoughtful kit!
I am using this with a MacBook Pro and it had 3-button functionality right out of the gate without installing drivers. The USB receiver itself is very small. It's even smaller than the magsafe power adapter head. Time will tell if I can safely keep it in the notebook while I place the computer in and out of it's neoprene sleeve, but I don't anticipate this being a problem.
Do I wish this was a bluetooth mouse? Absolutely. But it is more comfortable than any Bluetooth mouse on the market, it moves the pointer with more fluidity, smoothness, and accuracy than any Bluetooth mouse on the market, and as much as I have enjoyed not dealing with receivers over the past 7 years... the total package provided by this mouse more than makes up for the fact that it isn't Bluetooth.
    I highly recommend it.

I'm used to being disappointed by products after reading the advertising hype. Not so with this mouse--I'm very happy that I spent the money that I did to buy it. I've used it every day for several hours for a week now and I like it better as time goes on.
Ergonomics: The mouse is very comfortable and well-designed. My previous mouse had forward ; back buttons near the thumb area, but they were so close to where my thumb was positioned that I would often hit one when first grasping the mouse. The thumb-rest on this mouse is very well-designed; it's easier to hold ; control the mouse because the grip is so much surer.
Zoom, Forward ; Back Buttons: These three buttons are located a bit above the thumb rest and are very intuitive. The zoom button is just above your thumb, but far enough that I don't accidentally press it. When I do use it, the wheel increases or decreases the size of the image. Hit it again, and the zoom mode goes off, but nicely leaves the image at the size that you set it so you can continue working.
The Forward and Back buttons are above the zoom button and I found them comfortably placed to access when I wanted them but not get in the way when I didn't. They work well--it's usually easier to hit the back button than move the mouse to the left arrow in my browser.
Scroll Wheel: Here, the mouse pleasantly surprised me with its "hyper-scroll" feature. I expected a slightly enhanced scrolling capability--after all, when marketing people write "hyper," meaning super-duper and extreme to the max, they usually mean that this version works properly where their previous product was buggy. OK, I'm cynical. This feature is a true improvement. When you press a release button that is conveniently located slightly behind the scroll wheel, it frees the scroll wheel to spin, enabling you to scroll through pages very fast. When you touch the wheel to stop it from spinning, the scrolling stops instantaneously. You can simply push the release button again and you're back to "click" scrolling.
Slightly Strange Software: The software that comes in the package on a CD enables you to adjust certain mouse settings to suit your own preferences. However, you must go into the Control Panel / Mouse application to set things like the number of lines per wheel "click," the "double-click speed," and the pointer image (I like a large black arrow because of vision problems). I would have expected an integrated suite of software that handled all of these things, or at least advice from the manufacturer that informed me that certain mouse settings had to be made in the control panel.
Other Stuff: Simple things enhance this mouse, like very low-friction feet. All of my previous mice were harder to move on the desk or table surface and therefore harder to control. The only alternative that I could think of was to go into the control panel and set the "mouse speed" slower than it was when I was doing any kind of fine work. With this mouse, the low-friction feet make it much easier to make fine movements with the pointer, and in general make the mouse more pleasant to use.
Speaking of friction, the mouse has rubberized pads on the right and left sides, making for a non-slip grip, unlike my previous mouse, which was clearly molded from recycled potato peels or something. The serious point is that I haven't yet found my fingers slipping when accessing any button.
Overall Comfort: A harder-to-define characteristic is how the mouse feels overall. I find my hand and arm less tired, and the grip feels natural to me--it is shaped correctly to my hand. Previous mice, like the piece of... well, let's say "low-priced" mouse that Dell supplied with my computer, forced my hand to conform to the mouse. The result is a feeling of "rightness" when I first take hold of this device.
Battery Recharge: Logitec thought through this one very nicely. I've had the mouse for a week and charged when I first got it. It's been on all this time. BTW, the mouse actually has an "on-off" switch. After I pulled the mouse out of its box, I charged it while I was using it by simply connecting the mini-USB connector to the wall charger. It was then similar to using a wired mouse while it was charging. Logitec also supplies a USB cable so you can charge the mouse from any of your computer's USB ports. No putting the mouse into a cradle to recharge, which prevents you from using the computer.
Receiver Extender Cable (USB): None of Logitec's literature and no review that I've found properly states the simple reason for this cable: when you have problems with erratic pointer movements because of interference, too great a distance from the mouse to the receiver or obstructions between them, this cable enables you to move the receiver closer to the mouse. This gives you a so-called "inverse square-law" advantage in signal strength: for example, at half of the distance between the mouse and the receiver, the mouse's transmitted signal strength is four times higher at the receiver.
I paid $99 for this mouse at Best Buy in NJ. I think that this is a case where paying more gets you more. This mouse is a great product and I recommend it.

Good product overall. Definitely a good option, to the $40+ cases you find at a retailer. The cons I found were, the side entry for the iPad as a small flap that goes under the iPad, and it could make it bulky for the case to close completely,...no biggie really. The one part I did not like very much is the access to the top and side controls (power;volume), its not what you call easy access, even though, it has openings for said controls, you still have to make your way in there a little bit,....but all outputs have there designated openings. The Cameras on both sides have the opening, however, I did notice the front camera is not really centered to the opening, so it can easy be covered by the case if you move the iPad too much,...with that said, the case does control the iPad inside fairly secure.

After three weeks using this case with the iPad2:
This is a perfect starter case, particularly if you are gifting or new to the iPad experience and don't yet know what features you'll really want in a case. It protects the iPad2 and allows for portable, versatile use.
NOTE: I have sensitivity to off-gasses. After opening, I had to place this case in another room to air out for a full day before I could use it comfortably. By the third day, the issue was completely resolved.
    PROS:
    - It stands well, for viewing videos and slide shows. (Vertical landscape)
    - The slight angle it provides by laying it horizontally (landscape) works surprisingly well for typing and swiping.
    - It does not stand hands-free in portrait, but it is still lightweight enough to hold in one hand while swiping and tapping.
    - The magnet in the cover works to sleep the iPad2 , as advertised.
    - Protective and discreet (looks more like a notebook than an iPad)
    CONS:
    - No portrait stand (I've missed it only a little)
    - The simple tab in the back used to 'create' the stand will start to stretch out over time and create a less secure ability to prop the iPad2 for typing (though it should have no effect on standing it for viewing purposes). If you have a little velcro tab (office supplies), you can correct this easily.
I love this case. As I use my new iPad more and more, I'll have a better idea of the features I'll really want in a case -- and I fully expect to upgrade. But I don't feel the need to hurry. In the meantime, this case covers most of my needs and is inexpensive enough that I won't feel wasteful when I move on.
I paired the case purchase with screen protectors and a stylus, both of which are working well for me so far. (Screen protectors are tricky to put on - read the reviews for tips.) The stylus clips easily over the edges of this case; like a pen to a notebook.

    Customer Reviews

I was so surprised by this doll, that I just had to write a review, as no one has commented on the uniqueness of this doll. To my surprise when I opened her, she is built differently than her female MH counterparts. Because Nefera is Cleo's older sister, they have made this doll taller than the others, and she has thicker more womanly limbs and torso, I LOVE this. This kind of attention to detail makes Nefera one worth adding to your collection.
On a side note, the new black only doll stands are -worthless- They have been included on my Nefera, Operetta, and sweet 1600 doll, and even the -slightest- opposition force separates the stand from the base. I truly hope Mattel resolves this matter as it is nearly impossible to display the dolls with these new poorly designed stands.

Today I have purchased the Nefera de Nile doll at Target. I really like her, she is a beautiful doll. But she is a little taller than I expected, she really sticks out on my shelf in my room. But I still give her a five. The stand is not that secure, when you stick it through the hole in the base it was a little lose, so I ended up taping the bottom.
Nefera has beautiful hair, it is a turqoise with strands of black and gold glitter in her hair. She has a big, gold headpiece that covers most of her head except for a little bit of her hair showing in the front. Her eyes are a lavender and she has a small red and white dimond shape on her left cheek under her eye. She has dark teal lips and has two different earrings on. The right earring is a triangle shape with three smaller ones dangling from the bottom. The left earring is longer and is in fact a snake with again, the three little triangles at the bottom. Her necklace is a fat, gold what to me looks like fabric type of shape (except the fabric type shape is plastic). It has a small snake coming from the gold plastic fabric shaped necklace, with a giant light reddish, circle. Her dress is absolutely gorgeous. It is a mummy wrap fabric, with on the left side has a long sleeve. They are many various colors, red, turqoise, black, and a goldish tan. It includes a sash that is the color, teal. Her dress has a giant belt that has a braided snake wrapping around it. The skirt has what looks like small scraps of black, and the rest the mummy wrap design. The design has a pattern, braided, then wrap, braided, then wrap again. She has a gold bracelet on her right arm, and a blue dimond shaped ring on her middle finger. She has leg warmers, but they are a lot similar to Cleo's, but that makes sense. The right one is smaller and shorter than the other one. They both have two strands of mummy wrap floating down from the top of the leg warmers. Her shoes are gold, red, teal and black. The heels are teal snakes and the front is a fan shape of gold, red, and teal. Gold in the middle, teal on the outside of the gold, and red on the outside of the teal. Other-wise the rest is black and gold.

    Customer Reviews

This MH doll is AMAZING! She is the first to have cherry red hair, which has black streaks. Operetta is the Phantom of the Opera's daughter, so her motif is all about music. Total 1950's Rockabilly style. And her skin color is a very faint lavender; purple is a traditional color of the Phantom. Her houndstooth patterned shirt (a very popular style of that era) is purple. Her saddle shoes, which have spider webs on them and G cleff notes as the heels, are over classic white bobby socks. Her jewelry and cuffs of her sleeves are piano keys (in honor of dear old dad:) O's guitar is coffin-shaped with music note straps. Even her scarring (which is very realistically raised up) under her peek-a-boo mask is made of music notes! I could go on and on... have I mentioned her rad music note tatoos? I especially love her pet Daddy-O Longlegs named Memphis~ he has a pompadour greaser hair do, and an Elvis-like sneer as he combs his hair.
These dolls are so clever and well thought out in design. I can completely see why adults adore these dolls; I think I love them more than my daughter!

I've posted a couple other reviews, and as I've said in the past, Mattel has stepped it up a notch on the design quality of the newer MH line of dolls. I just scored Operetta and Nefera today at Walmart, for 18.97 each. Keep your eyes open, they are just now reaching store shelves and they are more plentiful than you think. But make sure to jump on it quickly, they'll get bought up fast! And no doubt by these greedy toy resellers Call your local Walmart and Target stores and see if they have them in stock. As for my review of Operetta, well, I'd say she is my favorite doll in my collection. The color of her skin is purple, and her hair is red with black streaks, done up in pinup/rockabilly style. She has a big heart mask over her left eye to help hide the "scarring" on the left side of her face - and yes she actually does have scars etched into the left side of her face! She is wearing two different earrings but they are each dice, one black, one white. She has tattoos down the left arm. Her outfit is cute, with cuffed capri jeans and a cute little rockabilly style top. Her accessory is a guitar shaped like a coffin with a big spiderweb painted on it. Her pet is a spider with a pompadour, and he is using one of his legs to comb it! So far, I think she is the most detailed, well thought out doll of the bunch. You will not be disappointed with this one! Good luck in your endeavors to find her, and DO NOT pay over retail price!
